Christian Soldiers it is time to march onto war. For it is clear that "Satan's Kingdom is Falling". With authority and a unique tone comes Anthony "Papa Das" Glasgow, another gospel reggae/soca soldier in the army of the Lord. This soldier hails from St. Vincent and the Grenadines in the West Indies and at a young age was blessed with a distinct alto voice and a knack for writing songs.

This original album kicks off with a hard-hitting militant dancehall cut. On track two (Image Of The Beast), Anthony warns us to "Stop compromising, stop improvising, me beg you stop your conniving." After this is "My Salvation", one of the strongest hooks on the album. This pepper-seed style dancehall tune is sure to get the masses bubbling!

From here Anthony gives us "Jesus Is Alive", a mid-tempo roots tune over one of today's popular secular riddims. The roots continue on "Sodom & Gomorrah" another song that speaks directly to today's corrupt generation. Another musical movement takes place as Glasgow takes us on a journey through soca on "I've Been Forgiven", an upful song of praise!

Just when you are getting in a festive mood Anthony flips the script again and gives us down tempo worship ballads like "He's My Jesus" and "Worship You". The slow pace continues as Anthony goes as far as singing country and western on "Hear My Cry" and "One More Time". While some reggae purists may gawk at this genre, believe it or not, worship ballads with country and western influence are more prevalent than reggae and dancehall in your average Caribbean church--Blame it on the missionaries of yesteryear for bringing it over. Like it or not, these slow Nashvillesque ballads are here to stay and as much a part of the Caribbean's sonic tapestry than soca or calypso. While it may mystify some western ears to hear an artist sing dancehall for one song, reggae for the next, then soca, worship, and then country, but this is standard fare for most artists in the Caribbean (see Septimus).

On track eleven Anthony flips the channel once again with the hyper soca "In Ah Satan Face", a bouncy track that is sure to have you waving your rag in no time! Following this is the title track, another driving soca beat with a catchy hook. After this Papa Das encourages us to "Be Strong" over a hip-swaying calypso. He finishes the set with yet another soca bubbler. And by now I can definitely "Feel it!"

Being a two-time winner of the National Calypso Competition of St. Vincent, it is no wonder that Anthony flourishes in Soca and Calypso! This is when he is truly at home on a riddim. Whether you like roots, dancehall, worship, country, calypso or soca, Anthony "Papa Das" Glasgow has something for you. Order your copy of "Under the Blood" today and get a taste of the best that St. Vincent has to offer!
