Official Bio

Born in San José Costa Rica, Macabeo had a keen interest at an early age with music. As he grew up, he experimented with everything that the world offers, popularity, easy money, drugs and other stuff which only destroys people's lives. And all that was good for him, until one day he realized the emptiness he had inside. Emptiness that nothing can fill, just the love of God. Since he accepted in Jesus in his heart he started to write songs and to convey what He did in Macabeo's life and then disclose what he can do in the lives of others. Macabeo has recorded over 23 songs professionally. He is a solo artist and his specialty is Dancehall Reggae gospel, but he also likes the Roots music, hip hop. He is a soldier of the greatest Lord and King, Jesus Christ, the one who never leave you alone. Macabeo will keep making music and working for the kingdom, letting everybody know the truth and be free. Macabeo's mission is to not stop doing this and continue to transmit what He wants through the talent that he put in him.

Exclusive Interview with GospelReggae.com

1.GR: Tell us about yourself, where were you born and grow up, what your family is like, etc...

Artist: Well, I born in Costa Rica, and grew up in the capital guettos of this country, always influenced by Caribbean music.
My family is nice, I am the “big brother” of home because I have two little sisters, Ashley and Hillary, We are 5 on home, me, my sisters and my parents.

2.GR: How did you begin doing music?

Artist: Im start on this like a 3 years a go, all begins when I accept Jesus in my heart. When I do that, I start to feel that I had to say what Jesus can do in peoples life.

3.GR: Tell me, how did your name come about? Any obstacles with it--funny mispronunciations, etc…?

Artist: I was studying theology, and I was reading the history of Israel, the story of OT, and I saw this name that was the nickname for a guy how defend Israel against Syrians, This guy and him people, start call the “Macabeos” (hammers) because of them brave and courage.
So I like it lol!

Artist: Some time ago I was very concerned in how to dress to please everyone, which would people say because I have tattoos, or because I have long hair , because some Christians were angry. I learned that what we show “outside” is not important but what really matters is who we are in Christ, our testimony speaks more than our clothes.
