Jermaine Edwards was born on July 22nd, 1980 in Kingston Jamaica. He is the second of three children born to Bishop Rowan Edwards and Pastor Janet Edwards .
Jermaine spent his early years growing up in Spanish Town, Jamaica, and attended his father’s church at the ‘Light House Assembly’ church of God. In recollection , he refers to himself as a “pastor pickney “ who often found it difficult to live up to high expectations as a youth, flirted with Christianity and sometimes strayed down the wrong path. However, he always felt the call of god strong upon his life and knew that he was chosen by God for something special.
Often described as a friendly and humble character, Jermaine is a uniquely talented individual, blessed with a most phenomenal voice (which has to be heard at a live performance to be fully appreciated).
As a youth growing up in Spanish Town , he expressed a passion for music and soon learned to master the guitar and other instruments, but his personal favourite is the keyboard. Jermaine sings, composes and arranges music and he is currently the choir director and ordained Minister of Music at his local church in Jamaica .
In the year 2005, he released his first self produced album entitled ‘Island Worship 1: A Jamaican Experience’, which became an instant local hit and brought him the attention of local Jamaican radio stations.
He released his second album in 2007 entitled: Island Worship II – A Closer Walkfeaturing collaborations with many top localgospel artistes and radio personalities. These two albums have touched the lives of many in different ways both locally and internationally. Jermaine has travelled extensively to the United States , England and the Turks & Ciaos Islands ministering the word of God in songs.
Jermaine Edwards is fast becoming a household name , and has featured on numerous gospel reggae compilation albums . He has also performed on stage with a number of local and international gospel artistes and choirs , including DJ Nicholas, Chevelle Franklyn Papa san, Prodigal Son , Donnie McClurkin, Kelley Rowland of Destiny’s Child , Kirk Franklin and Brooklyn Tabernacle choir just to name a few.
Jermaine loves young people and sees himself self travelling from high school to high school, reaching out to youths using creative, innovative and modern methods to minister to them and point them towards the Lord. Very much similar to how Jesus did when he walked the earth.
