Official Bio

Andrew E. Cartwright, known by many as "Mr. Lynx" or "FyahLynx" began his musical journey at the tender age of six singing at local church services and conferences. It was not until his years in high school that he begun taking his talents seriously, developing his skills at local school plays and talent shows. As his musical abilities matured, so did his popularity in the community, gaining the respect of many as a gifted singer and songwriter.

Mr. Lynx eventually joined the True Lucayans, a local group whose talent would land him on stage opening for artists like Busta Rhymes. Though it seemed he was on his way, it was not until
Mr. Lynx surrendered his life and talents to the Lord Jesus Christ, that his musical career took flight. He would soon join the newly formed C-side (Christ Side) group and further develop his skills in contemporary gospel, R&B, Hip Hop and his love, Reggae and dancehall music.

He was later signed to Lion Of Judah sounds and for 9 years worked alongside his colleague and cousin Monty G (CEO of Lion of Judah Sounds) and hit-making producer DJ Frost. This chart-topping team produced the critically acclaimed album "Prophetic Fire" in 2005, an album that is still a number one seller internationally. Following Profetic Fire, Lynx released "The Seeds You Sow," with Lion of Zion Entertainment.

Exclusive Interview with GospelReggae.com

1. (GospelReggae.com) Tell us about yourself, where were you born and grow up, what your family is like, etc...

Mr. Lynx: Well I was born on the island of the Bahamas called Freeport. I have one sister, two nephews and two Nieces. I'm a mixed child--or what we Bahamians call a "conkyjoe", meaning that I have a white Bahamian father and black mother

2. (GospelReggae.com) How did you begin doing music?

Mr. Lynx: My Father and Mother are both singers they inspired me and pushed me to sing.

3. (GospelReggae.com) Tell me, how did your name come about? Any obstacles with it--funny mispronunciations, etc…?

Mr. Lynx: "I was always a very friendly person. I could get along with almost anyone, so some of my friends just jokingly said "you is link up with anyone aye?" And that was it--Then Monty G said, "Yeah, and he's small just like a lynx!" Then I decided to learn more about the lynx cat and found out that it's a very dangerous creature. It may look innocent, but it is really very vicious--and so am I to Satan's kingdom."

4. (GospelReggae.com) If you could share the stage with any Christian or secular artist in the world (living or dead) who would it be?

Mr. Lynx: I would love to share the stage with gospel artist Dietrick Haddon.

5. (GospelReggae.com) I know that you have written a whole heap of songs in the past, but what's your favorite one? Now, If that is too hard for you to answer, then tell me this; if you spent 5 minutes with an avid reggae fan and only had enough time to play them one of your songs, which one would you play them?

Mr. Lynx: I would play them "Hold Me in Your Arms" from my "Prophetic Fire" album.

6. (GospelReggae.com) What were the last 5 CDs that you put in your disc changer?

Mr. Lynx: Ayeisha (What You Do To Me), Love Circle, Sherwin Gardner (Closer), Sherwin Gardner (Who I Am),Montyg (Until Life), Riddim Invasion 4 (L.O.J compilation).

7. (GospelReggae.com) Read any good books lately?

Mr. Lynx: Yeah, I just read "Purpose Driven Life".
