Back in 2001, Lion of Zion released Raggamuffin Hip Hop 1, an album that included a wicked remix by DJ Frost. Featured on this track was a young Mr. Lynx. Ever since that day, no artist has been in more demand by Lion of Zion fans than this Bahamian. For years people have been asking me "When is this Lynx guy gonna come out with his own album?" Sure he has had a track here and there on various compilations, but the man that is often compared to dancehall mainstays like Mr. Vegas and Red Rat has had seen "Hands Wave" for far too long in anticipation. Wait no longer, the "Living Furnace" is here and this one is bubbling hot with molten lava. Yes, the day has finally come when all of Mr. Lynx's smash hits are on one album with some new material to tide you over until his next album.

From the onset of this inspiring freshman release, it is clear that this is just the beginning for the talented Mr. Lynx. Initially, with a new raspy tone comes the rhythmically sparse yet lyrically strong "Kick him out of me life." Then on "Love is Something," Lynx trades in his gruff DJ sound for some smooth sailing vocals over the percolating reggae rhythm. On track three, Lynx continues to "Consume Me" with his original flow over this infectious dancehall beat. These three tracks alone explore the tremendous diversity that this gifted youth brings to the table.

Over reggae ("Love is Something"), old school raggamuffin, ("Naah Care"), new-brand dancehall ("No Idol God"), techno ("You are"), and hip hop ("Clean Up Your Heart"), Lynx is a distinguished word-smith cleverly syncopating his thick Bahamian patois lyrics over the kick and snare. Whether he is worshipping the Lord ("Crying Out") or rebuking sin ("Fire Fee Dem"), Mr. Lynx never ceases to captivate me with every note and melodic flow.
