*Artist Bio*
Michael Evans Jr. (Mikal) was born July 15th 1977. Born into a pastoral family, Michael received a firm foundation in the things of God. He became involved in music at an early age, participating in Worship at his home church. At the age of fifteen, Michael wrote his first original song. It was a punta song titled "Shout." This motivated Michael to put together a group and venture outside the accepted norm of the church setting.
Living in a town that offered no professional musical training, Michael taught himself, as well as his band members, to play the different instruments. By the time the group was put together, Michael was 18 years old. He had toyed with song writing and thought he had enough to put an album together. With no prior knowledge or experience in the recording studio, the group went in to record. In October of 98, the group released their self produced album entitled "Two Roadz." The album became an instant success in Belize receiving much air time on both Christian and Secular Radio. The group became an overnight success. However, the members soon parted ways, each pursuing their own personal goals. Michael also laid down music for some time. During this period he got married to former band member Indira, and they had two sons Michael Tre, and Micah Joseph Keon.
In August of 2002, Michael felt compelled by God to venture back into the music world. Having a natural gift to write and a love for music, Michael decided to use this important avenue to reach others with the love of God and the truth of His Word. Michael decided to begin work on a new project. His desire to do this project blossomed into a vision to equip other young men and women with the ability to develop themselves musically. Michael turned the name "New Beginnings" into "New Beginnings Productions," - a record Label. He has already signed two new Belizean artists to this new label. Both artists are featured on this first solo project - "Blessed Child" and "Lady Indi," Michael's very own wife.
Michael is now 26 years old, and is as vigorous and persistent as ever. He has decided to go where few other Belizeans have dared to venture. His intention is to take Belize to the forefront through Gospel Caribbean music. He is highly motivated to fulfill the Great Commission. Michael and his wife are very committed to this new baby God has given them, and accept it as a huge responsibility from God.
