Artist Bio:
Zema (pronounced Zay-ma) is a veteran roots reggae artiste sending out a positive, conscious and uplifting message as part of a small number of women braving the reggae waters. Zema began her musical career at the tender age of seven with piano and creative dance lessons. As a youth, her interest prompted her to pick up several other instruments in addition to singing. She has performed and recorded reggae, R&B, rock and pop music in numerous bands.
In Los Angeles, Zema has established herself as a prominent musician on the reggae scene recording and performing as a vocalist, keyboardist and guitarist. She has backed both as a vocalist and a keyboardist such internationally known reggae artists as Alton Ellis, Leroy Sibbles, Delroy Wilson, Ras Michael, Joe Higgs, Ras Midas, and Carlton Livingston.
In addition to performing throughout Southern California, Zema has appeared at several reggae festivals across the country as well as performing in Israel. She is currently touring the U.S. as part of the Bob Marley Festival tour. Zema has shared the stage with such seminal performers as Bunny Wailer, Luciano, Buju Banton, Jimmy Cliff, Ky-mani Marley, Congos and Abyssinians. Zema's deep spirituality, talent and dedication are reflected in the quality of her original material which is extremely well received wherever it's heard.
