ALBUM DESCRIPTION
The wait is finally over. Gospel deejay Ryan Mark, more popularly known as Prodigy, has released his debut album The Chosen Prodigy via Chosen Records. After making his gospel recording debut 3 1/2 years ago, Mark has come forth with a set that not only inspires but gives an indication of his experiences. The 20 year-old, whose brother is fellow gospel deejay 'Goddy Goddy', launched The Chosen Prodigy on Saturday night at the fourth staging of Recharge at Emancipation Park in Kingston.
"The album is reflective of what I have been through and what I have been experiencing since I have been under the ministry," he says. "I hope people will like it when they get hold of a copy."
With tracks titled Depart, I Know You Not, Alpha And Omega (which outlines that Jesus is King of all kings), Tell The Devil No, I Love You Lord (featuring Crissy D), Every Morning (which relates how he handles temptation from the opposite sex), Lie, A Just The Name and Sin No More (featuring Jai from Katalyst Crew), the album is a commendable effort. The main producer, Danny Browne, gave this album his usual expertise, carefully weaving the young deejay's vocals over a plethora of rhythms.
Prodigy (whose real name is Ryan Mark Reynolds) says the album took about 10 months to complete. He started out recording as Prodigy, but recently opted to go by the name Ryan Mark for reasons, he says, that have to do with launching out on the international scene.
"I wasn't thinking of just Jamaica when I recorded this album," he says. "I was thinking on an international level. I didn't want any conflict with the name because there is already a group and rapper who are recording under the name Prodigy."
