ALBUM DESCRIPTION

Praise and Worship fans can breathe a sigh of relief with the release of Proverbs Chapter 1, a 16-track compilation featuring a melodious blend of Gospel Reggae tunes. Recorded at London's Cave Studios, the UK stands up and adds their delicious addition to the Gospel Music Arena.

The compilation opens with a soulful offering from Osmond Collins atop a light and animated vibe. The familiar background percussion is molded into a whole new sound with the clever use of synth-brass highlights. His smooth vocals extend an invitation for the listener to "Come Bow Down" at the Cross. "Time To Get Up" finds Carlene Davis' platinum vocals situated between a bubbling organ in a traditional roots vibe and a horn arrangement with the precision of an Afro-Cuban jazz style. The result is a sensual musical experience completed with strained guitar chords and sparse piano bars. Mastermind behind the concept of the compilation, Tony Rich showcases his commanding vocals on "My Mind Is On You Lord." His thick voice coat a swaying standard roots beat, accentuated with female background vocals.

Fiona's infamous angelic comforting alto vocals steal the show on track 13 with "Why." Stepping lightly on the R&B/Soul fence Fiona's voice melts between a down-tempo bobbing riddim. "You Make Me Strong" is a wonderful addition to the project. The plucking bass combined with a squeaking brass cameo give Beverly Sweet the perfect compliment to her sincere presentation of thanks and praise to the LORD.

Although some tracks have a totally different sound such as "He Knew Me" bringing forth reggae with a country twang and "Love To Give The World" which seems more adult contemporary; the majority of the album is a rootsy blend of Gospel music and Reggae. Fans of Carlene Davis and Change or those looking for a Praise and Worship CD with an island twist may want to check this out.
