ALBUM DESCRIPTION

Elevate your mind, spirit and soul with Sol J's highly anticipated endeavor "Steppin Higher". Within the Gospel Hip Hop world, this album is sure to satisfy any listener with its creativity, content, and unique sound. With a blend of West coast and East cast track production "Steppin Higher" is full of variety and depth giving it a universal but authentic Hip-Hop vibe while still conveying a message of faith and love through Christ. "Its music for your soul, Hip Hop improvement", says Sol J.

Every song has a message of it's own as you hear on the opening title track "Steppin Higher" motivating you to get out of that stagnant place and move to higher dimension. Put your hands up to the catchy beat thumping track "The Anthem" were Sol J simply tells every nation and every tongue to unite for Christ.

Tired of hearing the same ol song on the radio, on the track "Same Ol Song" Sol J makes a bold statement to the world that music is more than just a beat and melody with lyrics like "It's about self expression, not self deception, all about a message and consciousness, that no longer exist, that's been dismissed".

Sol J reaches outside of the U.S. all the way to Jamaica and has collaborated with gospel reggae sensation St. Matthew on the encouraging upbeat song entitled "Still Standin".  Sol J also duets with talented and soulful singer Jennifer Howland of Christafari on the layback summertime tune entitled "Unconditional Luv".

The creativity of Sol J is what separates him from the rest of the class and that innovation shines on what he calls his "Hip Rock" song entitled "Losing my mind". You will catch a message we can all relate too as Sol J raps over a rock n roll guitar lead that will definitely have your head nodding.

It does not stop there, you have the rest of the album to groove to, lift you up and encourage you to take that next step in life in all that you do.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Solid sound with message of Christ
I really like this work for Christ in the Hip Hope genre, although I am not a fan of most Hip Hope. I usually buy mix-tapes bcoz I get the best from a DJ's perspective. But this whole cd is "tight". I am familiar with the era of 70s & 80s of the New York sound, as I grew up in NY. I could dance, have fun, and also listen to some positive messages...then deterioration set in. True wars from the West coast, the south, mid-west; defamation of women, law enforcement, and black people in general. Sol J glorifies God, has some nice rhythms, and outstanding lyrics. I will add this to my collection of music, as I am a musical director and an overseas, self-supporting, volunteer missionary in a third-world country. Some of the youth will like this cd and once I translate & transpose the lyrics, there will be true worship. Thanks Sol J and always God bless...
