ALBUM DESCRIPTION
Dunamus Soundz enters the Christian Dancehall arena with "Underground Session Phase 1," a Hip hop and Dancehall compilation showcasing many new up-and-comers, proving that once again the Bahamas is making some big musical waves.
Out of the 22 selections on this CD 13 of them have the exact same beat, which may pose a problem for those listeners who are seeking variety in their riddims. The recycled beat is a definite blend of hip-hop and dancehall with piano-styled melodic overtones, leaving each artist to manipulate the sound of the track with their vocal stylings and choice of lyrical arrangement.
D.Q. opens with compilation with "Clean up This Mess." His conscious lyrics with support for women are nicely complimented with an R&B driven female hook. Still riding the same riddim, Mighty Mouth brings the island flavour by seasoning the "God A Real" with his chatting. Lavard Parks (aka Manifest), steps away from the producer's console briefly to sharpen his scriptural spittin' on "Fill Me."Lion of Judah Sounds make an appearance with an original track by none other than DJ Frost. The Lion's Pride takes this anthem to declare war against Satan. Radel Hanna brings her Spoken Word talent to the album with "Tentatively 4 Ever." Bonafyde's chatting (reminiscent of Lady Saw), joins Manifest on "Little More Love" with a call for all people to show more compassion and brotherly love. "University of Hard Knocks" (remix) finds Syntyst rapping over a neck snapping hip-hop beat.
Although the same beat is used throughout most of the entries on this compilation, each artist brings their own style and variety is found in each delivery. Spoken Word, Dancehall, Hip Hop and even some R&B. A solid line up of producers from Manifest to DJ Frost, Selector, the Syntyst and Last Don, this album is a great introduction to some of the talent that will be coming out of the Bahamas.
