ALBUM DESCRIPTION
Isaac Blackman has done it again! The founder of Jamoo Good News Studio and brainchild of JGN records has delivered yet another incredible project. This time around the hit factory that brought us the chart-topping "To The Ceiling" blesses us with a well-rounded album that features Isaac's entire stable of artists!
For the most part, this album is a family affair--as are most of Blackman's productions. At the core it is Jamoo and Soca, two sounds pioneered by Isaac's father, the late Ras Shorty I. But there are other key elements incorporated on this project such as reggae, pop and even a slight urban flare. Essentially there is something for everyone; from the Soca of Nehilet Blackman (Isaac's Sister) to the soulful stylings of Dixie-Ann Hunte (Isaac's girlfriend) and from the rootsy tones of Marcus (his Brother-in-law) to the organic flow of Rem Bunction (his good friend).
This album contains 11 singles in all. There are two singles from each of the five artists and then Isaac gets the last word with a third song. Ironically it is this final song that stands out the most on the project. "Surrender (Got It)" has an addictive hook that you will be caught singing for days. Other stand out tracks include Rem Bunction's "Endz of the Earth", Nehilet's lead single "Favour", Dixie's "Armour of Light" featuring the boisterous vocals of Koen Duncan and Marcus' ethereal "Money".
Overall, this is Isaac's best production to date as he continues to set the bar in the Trinidadian music. This splash of sounds inevitably sends ripples to the ends of the earth. To be honest with you, some of these songs are like hand grenades, so they may have a delayed reaction for some--but they will explode! If one of the songs doesn't grab you at first listen, it will grow on you. And once the choruses set in, you won't be able to get them out of your head. This is quality soca, jamoo, pop, roots and culture all sung for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Purchase "The Singles Collective" today--You won't be disappointed!
