ALBUM DESCRIPTIONDJ Frost and Monty G present the highly anticipated follow up to "Riddim Invasion 5." This time around these producers-extraordinaire take on a journey to the "Archangel" riddim, a delectable major-key one-drop bubbler. Archangel is undoubtedly the hottest gospel reggae riddim of the year. You first heard the riddim on Monty G's "Along Life's Road" with Trinidadian Positive's plaintiff cry; "I want to know does it only rain in the ghetto." This song has had tremendous Christian and mainstream success and has helped catapult newcomer Positive into the stratosphere!
If you own a copy of DJ Frost's Street Light Mixtape Vol. 3, then you are already familiar with this riddim. Seven songs over the Archangel riddim are featured on Street Light 3. But if you think that you have heard all that this riddim has to offer, don't be deceived--Street Light 3 was just a small taste what was to come. First of all, the clips on Streetlight 3 are just over a minute long. They are teasers! With such short samples it is impossible to hear the verses and all that the artist truly has to offer. In contrast, the Archangel Riddim CD gives us every song in its entirety. Beyond that, you get ten more complete songs that you can find nowhere else!
While the musical bed may not vary much over this 17-track CD, the stable of singers is as diverse as ever; from the lovely Kristine Alicia to the animated Mr. Lynx, and the passionate Emrand Henry to the wailing Mr. Danny. With new songs by the likes of Yankee, Gitta Dan and Hozia, there is something for everyone.
It is my opinion that the ladies shine brightest on this riddim compilation, with Kristine Alicia (on lead and background vocals) setting the pace. Other crooners include the sweet songstress Lynnette White, the soothing Jumelle, the passionate Ria Mark and the soulful Twiggy. The name Twiggy may sound familiar if you were into the secular dancehall scene in the early nineties. Twiggy (alongside Wayne Wonder) was a member of Buju Banton's stable of artists and sang the secular hit "I Want Your Love" with Banton on "Strictly the Best 14." Since then she has been singing gospel reggae for the Lord with splendid results.
Whether you are a DJ or just a gospel reggae aficionado, this riddim compilation is for you. With a wide array of artists all singing sweet songs for their Savior it is undeniably the best riddim CD to date by Lion of Judah sounds. Order your copy today!
