ALBUM DESCRIPTION

The long awaited, highly anticipated debut album from Minister Blessed is finally here! Produced by Dale "Dr.Dizzle" Virgo and entitled "Purpose", this project delves into the Biblical concept that everything happens for a reason as God achieves His purpose for our lives. With 15 spicy tracks, Blessed (pronounced "Bless-ed") takes gospel reggae to a higher echelon, spitting lyrics over dancehall, reggaeton, hip-hop, roots reggae and traditional riddims.

The album kicks off with "Nah Give Up," an up-tempo tune that has Blessed rattling off his patent fast talking lyrics. This cut sets the tone for the blazing tunes to come. On "Alright Then," Blessed teams up with Ryan Mark (aka Prodigy) for a hard-to-the-core track about spiritual warfare. This is surely one of the albums biggest tunes. On Track 9, he collaborates with the hard-hitting DJ Nicholas and tells both believers and non-believers alike to put away their bad habits/sinful behavior-"Put It Down!"

Blessed slows down the pace with "Testimony," the story of his life. He says "I wasn't no bad man, nor gun man, but even as a Christian, believe me, I've been through some stuff." Blessed refuses to hold back as he shares his personal experiences, his encounter with suicide and his refusing to give in to robbers who held him up. His originality and creativity continues with the popular "Dandy Shandy," "Problems," "Get Saved" and "Relationships." He then takes a risk by doing a comical tune in Dub Poetry">dub poetry style. This song is sure to give listeners a belly full of laughter.

"You Are Holy" is how Blessed and 2007 JCDC Gospel Winner Garfield Reid describe their Lord and Savior. With a fresh anointing, the well-known duo effectively deliver this song as a true reflection of praise and worship/reverence to the God we serve.

If you did not believe that "Hallelujah" is the highest praise, then you need to take a whiff of track 14, which features the dynamic rap group Sons Of The Prophet over a reggaeton beat. The concept and energy on this song takes you to a level of radical praise that is beyond mere excitement. "Put Dem Up - Lift Dem Up" is how Blessed enters the track directing people on the left and the right to wave their hands and praise God. S.O.P then turns it up telling people to put "Ten Fingers In The Sky, If You Want More Jesus In Your Lives." One listen of this track gives you a vivid picture of a live audience all giving radical praise to God through Hallelujah which is a dominant phrase throughout the song. Undoubtedly, this song counts as one of the album's greatest.

The title track "Purpose" captures the essence of the album, as song bird Danah Cameron sweetly sings the chorus "No matter what you going through, I am telling you-it's for a purpose; God has a purpose." Another hit, this song is arguably the album's best; at least in terms of lyrical content and Biblical substance.

In the final analysis, "Purpose" may just be what the doctor ordered for all listeners to maintain an excellent musical diet. Song after song, rhythm after rhythm, Minister Blessed proves himself as a force to be reckoned with among local/international dancehall/reggae artists. Pick up your copy today!
