I first came up with the concept for , "The Holy of Holies" on the way back from a church camp in 1990. Weather at camp or church we would sing song of praise that would impact my soul. Problem was that the rhythms were good but I felt they could be better. I had just gotten into the whole Ska/Reggae scene a few years prior and I was so drawn to those rhythms that I thought why not fuze great Jamaican sounds with worship tunes and the Holy of Holies was the outcome 20 years later.
This cd was a long time coming. It was put off for all those years because I wanted to play secular shows and needed something less strong worded for that crowd. So I spent the next few years putting out my own tunes on 4 different releases. And now that the band is more than established and people know our purpose they have the option to check out a different more spiritual side of the band.
The first attempt to record this cd was in 2002 in our old saxaphonists (Brittny) garage on her dads computer. It was ok but not what I wanted. Next attempt was in 2004 with a guy we knew who was deep into reggae and had a little studio in his back house that was perfect. Those recordings were better but he was busy and not really on top of things as I would of liked him to be. Finally in 2007 a long time friend named "Solomon Jabby" moved out to California to play with Christafari and get established. Solomon was recording his own material for years and was great at what he did. His style was reminicent of artists such as; The Upsetters, Agustus Pablo, Dub artists, etc. I loved his recording style and asked him to be our Producer/Engineer. He accepted and we set up shop in our drummer Fritz' garage.
When the recording was about %80 done I felt the call to move to Oregon. The cd took another 2 years to complete due to lack of funds and Solomons busy tour schedule with Christafari. Finally by mid May of 2010 the cd was released. It was a long hard battle but I really feel that we went through all the trials because this cd is probably the most important Israelites cd ever released.
Our purpose in releasing this cd is not to cram religion down your throat. Many people have asked over the years to do this cd and that was the purpose. We have many christian fans all over the world who support us so we did this for them. We hope this cd blesses your life and gives you hope.
I want to sincerely thank the following people for all their help patience and support. The Father, Son and Holy Spirit, Jim, Fritz, Bubba, Gabe, Robby and Mike, Solomon Jabby, Imisi, Bobby (awesome organ sounds), Alan, Breddren Marcus, Jr. Francas, Hue, Bernadette, Chuck Wren (Jump up Records), Caleb Olsen, (Boot to Head graphics), Matt and Andrea Maldanado Phil (pip).
