ALBUM DESCRIPTION
If you've downloaded this album, you can now download the CD Booklet in PDF format for FREE just by clicking on this link: http://tinyurl.com/3rdWorldBook --------------------------------------------------------- Last February, Avion Blackman and her husband Mark Mohr (founder of Christafari) headed off to Hawaii for a month of inspiration. Their mission was to write and record a new song every day. Whenever they got stuck on a verse, they'd go snorkeling, sightseeing or head off to another island!
What started off as demo sessions ended up being the final recording. In just a month, all the songs were written and they'd even filmed a music video for the title track amidst jungles and waterfalls on the Big Island. Getting away from home and being surrounded by God's creation and beautiful people ended up being the perfect muse for this husband and wife production team. The end result was 'Third World Girl,' Avion Blackman's third solo offering.
What sets this production apart from the previous two award-winning albums is the island influence. While the songs may vary from roots reggae to ska, hip-hop to dancehall, and even venture into soul/R&B and dubstep, many of the songs are also seasoned with a dash of Hawaiian Island flavor.
Heading off to Hawaii was just what the doctor ordered as the couple was still going through the healing process after a painful miscarriage. They worked through their hurt with prayers and through pen and paper with beautiful melodies. While the project touches on a variety of subjects from worship to relationships, a unifying theme throughout the album is healing. 'Third World Girl" is chocked full of songs of hope and encouragement for broken lives. It has uplifting words and hope-filled melodies that usher the listener into forgiveness and restoration.
"This album is about how the Lord can take broken and fragmented lives and turn them into a beautiful mosaic. We can all become a work of beauty under the artful hands of God."--Avion Blackman

| I enjoyed Onyinye. Sweet life was better still. Third world girl is the best of all! The lyrics and the music are totally inspirational. The album is entirely encouraging and uplifting. The focus is centred on the Lord Almighty! Who could not be encouraged or inspired by songs such as 'Grace and peace'? Avion sings, "Grace and peace to you in abundance...". What about 'Joy of the Lord'? Some lyrics: "The joy of the Lord is my strength...is my song...You are my strength, You are my song, You are my salvation, the only that I lean upon...Jesus you're my salvation, the only one I call upon".
This is a top album. Avion, you are just getting better and better. Thank you and Mark and Christafari for your wonderful encouragement and witness to the salvation, grace and forgiveness that can only be experienced through relationship with Jesus Christ. Thank you and bless you guys!

| This is definitively reggae music at it's best quality, secular or Gospel. I personally am thankful it is reggae to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ, but even if it were not I would still say it is one of the best representation of modern reggae that you would be able to find.
Perfect, Avion! |
